Cla ss Prophecy The year is I960; the setting is a balmy June night at one of the more exclusive country clubs. The group of people on the terrace is the Perry High School graduating class of 1955. I’m sure you will be amazed at some of their occupations. The little group nearest us consists of Pat Jersey, playing the piano at carnegie Hall this week, Carol Wyant, girls gym teacher at Bryn Mawr, and Orpha R. who is in partnership with Janet Smith, both managers of a huge chain of Five and Dime stores. Next we see Bev Sohayda, Beatrice L. and Dorothy Tims. It seems they are all tied for the “Mother of the Year prize. Dot teaches music theory as a part-time job. My goodness, there’s John Plummer! Did you know that he is the new moderator for “Toast of The Town? The fellows he is talking with are Ray Mantle, United States ambassador to Latin American countries and Hank Smith, who is head professor of Science at Harvard. Next we see Jane Peterson. She is the Head Nurse at Long Gone HospitaL She is talking with Mag Williams and Ruth Langshaw, who own the largest chicken farm in the state, and Bev Wainio, who has the gossip column in the daily newspaper. I see at the punch table Jon Ciranko and Sonny Elliott. They are now stage hands for the latest Broadway hit. They always did want to be in show business! Talking to them is Millie Kocis who is Editor-in-Chief of Colliers. She is very happy since she discovered five new subscribers. Listening is Rosalie Barnhouse, who is kept quite busy raising her sevenman football team. Let’s go over to the other side of the terrace to the little group. Who is that? Why it’s Marina Kan-gas who now is the Colonel of the State Troopers. She is chatting with Karen and Saundra. They had their double wedding last week and are happily living in Florida, right on the ocean. They always were bound and determined to get a sun-tan! Ruth Tucker didn’t quite make it to Florida, but she says she is perfectly contented with her radioannouncing job in West Virginia. Let’s go over to another group of boys. Here we find Tom Haas, who is the largest Cadillac dealer in the nation. He is talking with Tom Frowerk, who is Liberace's understudy, and Don Saunders, a famous jockey and threetime winner of the Kentucky Derby. John Janos, campaigning for re-election for State governor, Ronny Brainard, who runs a foreign car body shop, and Dave Putka, who has one of the biggest race tracks in the country, are also talking to the boys. Next we come to Fred Colburn, Mel Brown, and Buz Salchow. They are discussing Fred’s latest invention, a self-sealing can, for people who open the wrong one by mistake. Mel is a world-renowned lecturer and marriage counselor--(if you have troubles, just go to Mel.) Buz is the head coach of the Cleveland Browns, and they've had their 13th consecutive national win. Dick West is discussing a real estate buy with Phil Brockway. As you know, Dick just bought 300 miles of land in Africa for his latest cultivating project. Phil is quite happy with his latest winning on the Indianapolis Speedway. Vicky is talking with Jim Lapham. She is up for Democratic Presidential election. As you know, Vicky is the first lady ever to run for President. Ruth Spiesman is her campaigning manager. Jim is a foreign correspondent for the Government. He now speaks 10 different languages. Jill King is now running an exclusive majorette school in New York. Earl Winter has finally improved Einstein’s Theory, and is discussing it with Carl Maglan and Mr. Stanley. Carl is an aviation expert and Mr. Stanley still teaches at “good ole ' Perry High SchooL
