The action took place in the chamber of records, with Mrs. Corwin as the Five Star General. Forty-eight able-bodied children were in her battalion. We had one addition, a war victim of the year before, John Janos. Buz Salchow was in charge under Mrs. Corwin, with Ray Mantle as his active assistant. Ruth Langshaw recorded all company events. Taking care of our huge money supply of $.93 was Jane Peterson. Our battalion was then passed on to Miss Few, September, 1950, barracks 25, and Mrs. LaMuth, barracks 23-B. Although we decreased this year, we gained some new recruits, Jill King, Bea Leasure, and Dave Putka, making our group thirty-eight strong. Ruth Langshaw took charge with Jane Peterson to help. Bev Wainio recorded for us and Saundra Parrish held guard over our mint. The biggest battle of the year was a barn dance, sponsored by our squad. Mrs. LaMuth commanded the next battle, September, 1951, held in tent 21. We gained our volunteers, Millie Kocis, Sonny Elliott, Carl Meglan, and Tom Haas. Buz Salchow had his rank lifted to Commander with Lt. Commander Ray Mantle. Battle notes were taken by Jill King while John Plummer took care of the funds. The most outstanding victory of the year was a backwards dance. September, 1952, found Mrs. LaMuth still holding Fort 20, with Miss Ouestel helping in the Mess Hall. John Meivogel, assisted by Sonny Elliott, led the infantry of forty. Jim Lapham took down the orders and Jon Ciranko paid the bills, leaving $270.94. Mag Williams, Marina Kangas, Sheila Hadd, and Don Saunders enlisted in our company. The highlight of the campaign was the Sadie Hawkins Dance. Mr. Harrington and Mrs. Corwin were assigned in September, 1953, to give orders to a squadron of forty-one. The Book Room served as headquarters. Sonny Elliott conducted the squadron's business with Fred Colburn backing him up. Maggie Williams mapped the course while John Plummer took care of the finances which amounted to $162.10. MarinaKan-gas and Buz Salchow were representatives to the Court Martial (Student Council). Tom Frowerk, Ruth Tucker, and Orpha Rorabaugh were dragged into our squadron. We also recaptured Saundra Parrish. The spotlight centered upon Owen's Plantation in the scene of the Prom held for the eleventh and twelfth squadrons. September, 19541 Our sixth and last year of services began. Mr. Stanley, Ten Star General, was in charge of polishing up the thirty-nine graduating Senior officers. The general meetings were held in Hut 22. Sonny Elliott again manuevered the troop into position, with Buz Salchow keeping the stragglers in line. Maggie Williams wrote the last pages in the Log that made up our history and Ruth Tucker signed away all of our debts. F red Colburn and Ray Mantle were appointed to Council duty, which our representatives took part in for the last time. We helped clean up Fort Perry by holding a very successful paper irive. The Christmas Dance, and annual event of the Senior Officers, and the Senior play were sponsored by us, held with the success of a Hollywood Premiere. A Prom was given for the Senior Officers by the Junior Officers at the Alcazar Hotel. Our term was brought to a close in June of 1955, when we received our honorable discharge papers, thus closing the door that has been opened on the past. PJkii Cla ss Prophecy The year is I960; the setting is a balmy June night at one of the more exclusive country clubs. The group of people on the terrace is the Perry High School graduating class of 1955. I’m sure you will be amazed at some of their occupations. The little group nearest us consists of Pat Jersey, playing the piano at carnegie Hall this week, Carol Wyant, girls gym teacher at Bryn Mawr, and Orpha R. who is in partnership with Janet Smith, both managers of a huge chain of Five and Dime stores. Next we see Bev Sohayda, Beatrice L. and Dorothy Tims. It seems they are all tied for the “Mother of the Year prize. Dot teaches music theory as a part-time job. My goodness, there’s John Plummer! Did you know that he is the new moderator for “Toast of The Town? The fellows he is talking with are Ray Mantle, United States ambassador to Latin American countries and Hank Smith, who is head professor of Science at Harvard. Next we see Jane Peterson. She is the Head Nurse at Long Gone HospitaL She is talking with Mag Williams and Ruth Langshaw, who own the largest chicken farm in the state, and Bev Wainio, who has the gossip column in the daily newspaper. I see at the punch table Jon Ciranko and Sonny Elliott. They are now stage hands for the latest Broadway hit. They always did want to be in show business! Talking to them is Millie Kocis who is Editor-in-Chief of Colliers. She is very happy since she discovered five new subscribers. Listening is Rosalie Barnhouse, who is kept quite busy raising her sevenman football team. Let’s go over to the other side of the terrace to the little group. Who is that? Why it’s Marina Kan-gas who now is the Colonel of the State Troopers. She is chatting with Karen and Saundra. They had their double wedding last week and are happily living in Florida, right on the ocean. They always were bound and determined to get a sun-tan! Ruth Tucker didn’t quite make it to Florida, but she says she is perfectly contented with her radioannouncing job in West Virginia. Let’s go over to another group of boys. Here we find Tom Haas, who is the largest Cadillac dealer in the nation. He is talking with Tom Frowerk, who is Liberace's understudy, and Don Saunders, a famous jockey and threetime winner of the Kentucky Derby. John Janos, campaigning for re-election for State governor, Ronny Brainard, who runs a foreign car body shop, and Dave Putka, who has one of the biggest race tracks in the country, are also talking to the boys. Next we come to Fred Colburn, Mel Brown, and Buz Salchow. They are discussing Fred’s latest invention, a self-sealing can, for people who open the wrong one by mistake. Mel is a world-renowned lecturer and marriage counselor--(if you have troubles, just go to Mel.) Buz is the head coach of the Cleveland Browns, and they've had their 13th consecutive national win. Dick West is discussing a real estate buy with Phil Brockway. As you know, Dick just bought 300 miles of land in Africa for his latest cultivating project. Phil is quite happy with his latest winning on the Indianapolis Speedway. Vicky is talking with Jim Lapham. She is up for Democratic Presidential election. As you know, Vicky is the first lady ever to run for President. Ruth Spiesman is her campaigning manager. Jim is a foreign correspondent for the Government. He now speaks 10 different languages. Jill King is now running an exclusive majorette school in New York. Earl Winter has finally improved Einstein’s Theory, and is discussing it with Carl Maglan and Mr. Stanley. Carl is an aviation expert and Mr. Stanley still teaches at “good ole ' Perry High SchooL Class Will I, ROSALIE BARNHOUSE, leave with happy thoughts of the good times I've had at P. H. S.
