AN The Perry High School Band takes part in many activities. The concert Band held a Christmas Concert and will hold a Spring Concert on May 22nd. The Concert Band also competes at the District V Festival on March 12th. They will be playing three prepared pieces and one sight reading piece. Weeks before February 19th, groups of musicians started to practice for Solo and Ensemble. The day before every group was cramming in as much practice as possible. YEARBUOK STAFF Producing a yearbook involves many different skills. It takes an artistic eye, a competency with words, direction following ability and so forth. But more than any of these it takes perserverance. When the task is just begun, everyone is inspired. Staff is looking forward to a day off for ad sales. The deadlines seem far away. But during the long winter months, people begin to disappear. Only the committed attend work sessions. Only the dedicated stay late into the night to see the job through. It is to those people I tip my hat . They are the producers of your yearbook. Some special helpers include George Nama, He not only did some photography but some developing as well. Thank you staff! The Marching Band, led by Mike Hurd as drum major and Michelle Smith as flag captain, performed pre- game and half time at the home foot- ball games on Friday nights. A few in the band weathered the wind and rain playing in the pep-band at away games. The pep-band also plays at Fri- day night home basketball games, playing popular tunes when the action on the court stopped. S x The Band Parents sponsor a Spagettii Supper before a Friday night football game. They also sponsor an Ice Cream Social. The Band Parents are always trying to better the quality of musicians at PHS. Band 85
