glad-4. .Ja FOUR YEARS MEMORANDA After eightlong years of struggle in theelementary grades, we had at last been promoted to that exalted group called the nigh school. Of course we, Freshmen, took into consideration the fact that we were the under-grads and we Knew that we would have to work hard and make someintelligent decisions niorder to D6 re- cognized as important in our school. First we elected twocap- able sponsors inMarion Towsley ani George Karng thmwe selected our class officers by electing Glen Ryan, Elaine Polhemus, KatherireDunh, and Phyllis Locxwood, esPresident, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer in that order. We needed a motto that would fit our class, and arte:-muon discussion wecame up witna very appropriate slogan, Not at the Top, but Climbing. One day a darlc cloud passed over our sunshine filled days. It was the Sophomores running around withriendish LOOKS ontheir faces and passing our I slips. Of course, we came to school the nextday looking asif we had Just comeout ora horror story. Initiation Day did turn out tobe a lot of fun becausewe were all pretty good sports and we Knew we would have our chance natye-ar Later on theSophs threw a party for the Fresniesin which every- body toox part and had a grand time. In the later part of the year the Frosh gave a party to the Sophs. Yes, tts Freshmen showed that they had what it tal-:eebecause their sense of friendship and fairplay was recognized by all. We we1eSopnomores now andneed we add theract that we were just a little proud of it. We're not the lowest class in high school anymore so that means we don't taxa the butt of all the Jokes. We' llnever forget tmday weran around with those fiend- ish looks on our faces searching out the hapless Freshmen. All was forgiven, though, when wegave a party for theFreshmen. We got down to business byelecting Emma Kinney and Harold Dunn as our sponsors. Next we chose Keith Davis as Presidentg Norman Sandin as VicePresidentg J'eanAnn Millis asSecretaryg and Betty Spangler as Treasurer. Our first real money maxing affair was the dance in April, the Sophomore Shuffle. The whole class worlsed hard on this project and as a result wehad a good turn-out and tnedance was a big success.
