NEGATIVE DEBATING TEAM William Ware - First Speaker Arthur Bray - Second Speaker Waivah Brace ----------- Third Speaker The Perry School is very proud of the Debating Teams and the work that they have accomplished this yearg it being the first time Perry has been able to have a debating team during the past four years. The question for this year's debating was Resolved that a Federal Subsidy for the Development of an American Merchant Marine would be a Wise National Policy. The Hrst negative debate was held at Gaines on November l6, l928. Al- though Gaines put up a hard fight Perry won by a decision of 2 to l. The last negative debate was held in our own High School Assembly December 7, l928, with New Lothrop as the opponents. Again Perry won, the decision being 3-0 in their favor. . These two debates ended the successful work of the negative team and Coach Swarthout immediately turned her attention to the interests of the affirmative team. The team realizes more than anyone else the service, en- durance and patience. with which lVliss Swarthout coached. Too much credit cannot be given her whose untiring efforts were responsible for whatever amount of success was attained . PAGE T XVENTY - S I X
