THE ORCHESTRA The orchestra was a new experiment this year, and has proved a very successful one. Early in the year it was announced that the services of Mr. Clarence H. Post and Mr. Frank Perne of the Lansing School of Music had been secured, and that half of the expense of lessons would be borne by the school. A great interest was shown and regular lessons and ensemble practice soon began. The orchestra made unusual progress, considering the great number of members who were learning to play. Much praise belongs to Mr. Post and Mr. Perne, who by their friendly guidance, made this organization a success. During the year the orchestra appeared at Parent-Teacher Meet- ings, The May Festival, and a recital sponsored by the Lansing School of Music. THE MAY FESTIVAL Another new feature of the year was the May Festival presented May I5 and I6 by the musical organizations of the school. Wednesday evening, lVlay I5, the Festival opened with the production of the one-act musical comedy Cynthia's Strategy , with rnusic by John Wilson Dodge and lyric by May Hewes Dodge, by selected members of the High School Chorus.
