Our eighth grade cross country team gained experience for next year by running in 3 meets. They won 1, placed second in a three way meet, and lost their final meet. The freshman football team acquired two new players and had the most successful season in Perry Central history this season. The freshman squad won 7 and lost only the first game. The high scorer for the Panthers was Doug Woessner, who also gained the most yardage. The leading pass receiver was the end, joe Moore. In the passing department the quarterback, Don Buck, threw 2O passes, completing 10 with one interception. For the specialties, Rusty Stratton kicked off and Bill Roberts was the punter. The offensive squad scored 162 points this year with the defensive adding 2 'on a safety scored against Columbus North. The defen- sive held the opposition to 55 points in 8 games, an average of 6.875 a game. Far left: Weingardt out- runs a Beech Grove tack ler for a touchdown. Left: Woessner picks up a punt against Beech Grove. The coaches this year were Mr. Phil Strader and Mr. jerry Moore. Mr. Strader coached the backfield, while Mr. More worked with the line. The ninth grade cross country team had a winning season, defeating ten of eleven teams in eight reg- ular season meets and placing third in both the SCOREBOARD Shortridge Invitational and the Marion County Meet.
