Music Blends in Harmony This ye ar our music department underwent a change. Two new teachers .were added to the staff. In the seventh grade, all students not enrolled in band or orchestra were required to take one semester of general music. In this class the students began a general survey of music. Seventh grade students could have also taken chorus. This was an elective course. Varsity band and symphonic band were courses Mr. Iverson, music department head, was very busy this year directing the symphonic band, varsity band, or- chestra, seventh grade band, and boys' chorus. Mr. Iverson leads the symphonic band. open to all eight and ninth grade students who fulfilled the requirements. The eighth grade boys' and girls' choruses were select groups of students who exhibited musical ability in the seventh grade. The mixed chorus was a select group of fresh- men students who were in girls' or boys' chorus as eighth grade students and wanted to continue on with their studies. The eighth grade boys' chorus re- hearses. Seventh grade pupils study music appreciation, theory, and history. Q
