Upper right: The seventh grade students are awaiting their instructions for their assignment. Left: Freshmen study theorems in algebra class. X Sr-1 Mathematics is a required subject for seventh, eighth, and ninth grade students. The freshmen have a choice of general math or al- gebra. There are three programs, one for the average student, one for the above average or enriched student, and one for the slow learners. The slow learners are taught primarily the same things, as the enriched students, only at a slower pace. 22

The boys' gym class above is learning how to wrestle. Students in Guidance All freshmen are required to take guidance. This class was held every other day all year. The topics discussed were politics, law, drugs, and school. Films and film strips were shown to help the under- standing. There were many speakers to give their views on the topics discussed. Left: A representative of the sl1eriff's department discussed the laws of Indiana government with the guidance classes.

Music Adds Culture to ur Lives Upper left: The seventh grade chorus learn the notes of the scale. Upper right: A-band or symphonic band. Right: The orchestra. Music at Perry Central consists of orchestra, bands, and choruses. The seventh grade students who are not in band or orchestra are required to take general music or chorus. Eighth grade students in girls' and boys' choruses were chosen in the seventh grade if they had shown musical ability. The mixed chorus of ninth grade was composed of students who were in chorus the previous year. The symphonic and varsity bands were open to eighth and ninth grade students who met the qualifications. 23
