I found Wishey Weischedel, by fhen a popular illusfrafor for Esquire magazine, home, while his wife, Beffy Jo Woods, was away on one of her annual hunfing frips fo Africa. Wishey,' if seems had kepf close confacf wifh his classmafes so I asked him abouf Ered Pourroy, Wren Johnson, and Roberf Thomas. The fhree, Ered being fhe brains of fhe frio, had gone info fhe wholesale booze business. They were making quife a name for fhemselves. l suppose you've heard abouf fhe famous playwrighf, Torrence lvliller, and fhe leading lady in all his plays, Rufh Lucking, haven'f you? asked Wishey. They're fhe foasf of Broadway. Why no, I replied, buf I hear abouf fhe biggesf musical names in New York, l.es Ransom, Robf. Warren and Ed Sfone, seems as fhough fhey've kepf fheir old sfyle and if really paid off. They have already played fen monfhs af fhe Sfork Club. Yes, Beverly Smifh and Lillian Schulz are billed af fhe Diamond I-lorseshoe as being fhe greafesf dance feam since Ziegfieldf' A Glancing af my wafch, I found if was nearly six o'cIock, and I explained fhaf I musf hurry fo my hofel because I had an engagemenf for dinner wifh a friend af seven. Refurning fo fhe sfreef, fhe delicious odor of pop-corn drew my affenfion fo a sfrangely affired woman sfanlding by a boofh. As I approached her, a smile broke ouf on her face. Im,- mediafely I knew fhe owner of fhe smile could be none ofher fhan Bonnie Burns. Why Bonnie. I never dreamed you'd furn ouf fo be a pop-corn vendor. I know, replied Bonnie, Everyone expecfed me fo do somefhing pracfical, so I fook fhis iob fo prove I could do somefhing fanfasfic. I like if so well I'm going fo expand fo peanuf briffle and ice cream. I asked Bonnie, I-Iave you heard from Gene McGuire, I have fhoughf of her many fimes. Yes, she is playing fhe bass viol in lvlr. She poses for fhe famous phofographer Audrey Jahns and is well-known as a model. Audrey, by fhe way had iusf goffen exclusive righfs for fhe Parsian fashions fhis year. enior frop ecg Marilyn Ramsing, as you know, married a play boy and is obfaining a divorce from him now. Neil Wyman, a prominenf lawyer, is faking her case. Joyce l-lare wenf fo Reno for her divorce from fhaf noforious movie acfor, Richard Talley, who is now fouring Europe. I receivefd a leffer from him his morning and he has seen quife a few of our friends in Europe. Beffy Bafeman is in London, receiving high honor for her discovery of a way fo manufacfure false feefh for horses. Bob Collins is in Paris, siffing on curbs painfing for wealfhy fourisfs from Amer- ica. Several prominenf families gave him fhe idea and he is making a forfune for himself. Edifh Purinfon is fouring Europe wifh her magic violin, while Lenny Vail has iusf been accepfed af fhe highly culfural universify, Oxford, as a window washer. This posifion is very similar fo his previous occupafion, fhal of peeking in fhe windows. James Wilson is Ambassador fo fhe Unifed Sfafes from Brooklyn and is fhere fo explain why fhe Brooklyn Bridge isn'f in New York. Thanking Bonnie for her informafion and bidding her farewell, l confinue'dl on my journey fo fhe hofel. Passing a newsfand a familiar face caughf my eye. Enfering fhe office l found Jack wifh his head secrefary Beffy Sfarnes. Realizing fhe urgency of his business and his lack of fime, I reguesfed fo meef his sfaff.
