Vhlle delvlng back ln the treasure chest of tlme, dlscovered an old dlary wrltten by the members of the pres ent Sen1or class The flrst date was September 1935 Thls year we began our search for Knowledge on the good old Plrate shlp he p esent Seniors who embarked together that were Betty Rankln, Elolse Herrlng, Joy Counts, Donald Thetford, Jo Nell Crum, Claud Fldler, Johnnle Calloway, Juanda Ramsey, Clyde Davls, George Gates M1ss Lucllle Jennlngs steered us through the flrst year Turnlng a page we found the record of our second year wlth Mlss Sarah Norrls as Captaln of the shlp The passen gers on the shlp were the same as the precedlng year wlth the exceptlon that a prom1s1ng P1rateer, Juanda Ramsey, had changed over to another shlp When September once more came to the horlzon, lt was found that a new passenger, H0l1lCe Harrlson, had come aboard Mlss Irls Austln dlrected us safely through hltherto unknown channels Mlss Ena Ph11l1ps took charge of the same Voyagers dur lng our fourth year Ql939-AOD An old Plrateer, Elolse Herrlng, returnlng to the shlp the years of 1940-41 were eventful As Captalns of red head by the name of Jess Mankln, who had all the g1r1s from slx to elghteen Swoonlng ln the manner of glrls of thls Slnatra age Thls year two new ladles, Retha Antwlne and Lena Dee Johnston, grabbed a rope and swang aboard The next year, under Miss J1mm1e Burns and Mr McGoughey, two new members, Lavern Franklln and Juanda Ramsey, were en rolled The class graduated from constant searchlng to de termlnlng the true course-Graduatlon from hlgh school The year of 1942 43 saw us as Freshmen wlth Mlss Vlneta Worthlngton and Mrs Lols Edwards as teachers Margaret wllson, Clodell Woodard, Deryle Turnbow, Jolene Luna, Dwan Francls were presented to our class for the flrst tlme The followlng year there was only one new adventurer to our class wayne Walston Mr Puryear was our gulde as home room teacher Under the dates of 194A A5 there 1S shown that B11l1e Faye Arnold boarded the shlp Mrs Puryear was appolnted as the Steersman of our trlp He have the pleasure of plannlng the annual Jun1or-Senlor Banquet We presented our play, WGo1ng on Seventeenn ln Aprll The school year of 1945 L6 15 our red letter year Connle Johnson 15 the Plrate acqulred We have reached our goal we are Senlors Our long Voyage has been well worth the tlme To those stlll sa111ng we say, NHo1d Fast o f ' . . . . we . . .
