Each year the Future Farmer Organization sponsors some kind of a play put on by its members. This year a mystery was given which was a complete success. Because We usually give a comedy, this play was somewhat different than past years. The purpose of the play is to raise money for the Parent and Son banquet which the chapter gives annually. It also adds interest for the chapter members. 1 an av if Each year Perkins County High School has been represented in the state agri- culture judging contests. There are two of them, one at North Platte, and the other in the eastern end of the state. The contest is usually held in the second week of April with boys from the Hrst and second agriculture classes competing . The teams before have received many ribbons and cups. LOWER ROW: V. The Normal Training class. composed of six juniors and six seniors spent twelve weeks each in reviewing and studying methods of teaching arithmetic and geography, and six weeks each on bookkeeping and drawing. The seniors were also enrolled in the professional training class in which they studied general problems of teaching. Students who complete these two years of work and pass the teachers exam- inations are eligible to teach in rural schools. nf nv A Q The Future Farmers of America is an organization made up of farm boys who are enrolled in Vocational Agriculture classes. Each state IH the union has chap- ters as well as Hawaii and Puerto Rico. The main purposes of the organizatio nare: To develop leadership, to promote thrift, to develop an interest in and a fondness for the rural way of life. and to develop an understanding of the farm and an appreciation of its advantages.
