The Girl Reserve Club celebrated its eleventh birthday in January with its Hrst president present to cut the birthday cake. This club IS international-the high school group of the Y.W.C.A. and its purpose To face life squarely, and its slogan To find and give the best. iTh1s year the worshops took up Red Cross work- knitting and homelnursing. New megaphones were bought for the yell leaders to use in presenting the new songs and yells in a more attractive manner. Home making is an art which helps high school girls to live a more satisfactory life. Activities enjoyed most were the play school for children, the improvement of the rooms in the department, and the studying of high school girls' problems. i' 'I i i The purpose of this department is to give students training in typing, short- hand. and bookkeeping. The following students competed in the District-State Commercial Contest at Kearney: Melba Wallin, Verla Wiseman, Anna Marie Maas. Mary Richmond. Hulda Gloy. Ruth Stout, Estalene Huebert. Margaret Stanley, and Gale Erlewine. They placed fourth in the district and tenth in the state. Melba Wallin placed fifth in shorthand and Verla Wiseman fourth in typing in the state ratings.
