coursicit AND Peouoif-W STAFF The Student Council cooperated with the Pequoian staff in sponsoring a completely new activity, the VVinter.Car- nival. The festivities began on Friday eve- ning, February 13, with a folk concert by Mr. larjisian, his cousin Mark, and Kent Snell. The carnival itself was held all day Sat- urday, February 14. Booths were set up by organizations from the school and com- munity. Gne of the highlights was the pie-throwing booth, sponsored by the American Field Service. Several teachers volunteered to have whipped cream pies thrown at them by students. Another popular booth was the cheer- leaders' Test Your Reaction Time . Two people competed at a time, and the one with the slower time was rewarded with an electric shock. The National Honor Society's pie- eating contests attracted many spectators as well as contestants. A five-dollar cash prize was awarded the person who could eat the most pie in five minutes. In the first contest, NHS President Bob Esben- shade consumed the most pie, but in the second, his record was broken by Art An- derson, who took the prize.
