NRO GH ' READYR PRE SE T W- '47 Chinee attempts to employ the aid of Si and SiSi, Spanish Speaking orphans, in helping her washing crows for Rough 'n Ready residents. Under the direction of Mr. john Koshuta and Miss Mary jane Webster, the Pequea Valley High School band and chorus combined to stage ROUGH 'N READY, a musical comedy by james Leyden and Lee Benjamin. Staged in a gold-mining town in California, ROUGH 'N READY is a musical study of a group of pioneers Who characterized a unique period of history--life in the untamed gold country. Yet the town of Rough 'n Ready, California was different from all the others because of one man who declared the town's independence from the United States, a legal swindle, and the Fourth of july. Rosie Pickens, portrayed by Debbie Book, and the women folk of the town discovered their own method of solution to the problem of the town's secession from the union which re- sulted in ironic finale. Other cast members appearing in lead roles included Si and SiSi Cjoanne Burnley and Missy Rynierb, Chinee fBeth Ranckj, Z. T. Haynes fBill Shankj and exchange students Odd Holck- Steen and Claudio Penno who were featured as immigrant miners . john Hershey, who enacted the part of Mule, served as musical comedy narrator while Su- sette l-loover assumed duties as student- director and properties manager. Attempting to run Z. T. Haynes QBill Shankj out of town are Army Lieutenant QCarl Sandoej and Sergeantfjohn Petersj. As the townfolk of Rough 'n Ready look on, Si and SiSi amusingly Luge their donkey onwzlrd.
