Two of these s etbac ks were to Donegal and one was to Ephrata. Twice the final victor was not de- cided until the seventh target and then only a one-point decision was made. Pequea Valley's newspaper, the PIGNEER, has always been a project sponsored and run by the junior class. This year, the paper has been filledwith excellent reporting, poetry, and car- toons skillfully prepared by the staff members. Regular features are Points to Ponder and Council Corner along with a column devoted to thoughts on current events. 'Through the years the problem of financing the newspaper has become more impending to each staff. This year the juniors staged an all-out cam- paign to get the needed subscriptions. Their success is measured by the ap- preciation and support of the entire school. -J. Ellis, Copy Editor, B. Kuhn, K. Ebyg C. RB. nek, PhetogfaPhef5 land S. Hostetter, Club Editor, M. The heat and fervor of a political campaign enveloped Pequea Valley as the Youth Day in Government campaigning began. Both juniors and seniors sought offices. The two opposing parties were: the Ideal party, led by Alfred Wanner and advised by Mr. Thomas McCormickg and the Energetic party, led by Robert Ray and advised by Mr. John Musser. Eventhe casual observers were enlightened by the flurry of posters and waving banners. A special assembly allowed a few members of each party to present their ideas concerning possible improvements in our school and in the local government. For the first time in Pequea's election history, students had the opportunity to use the voting machine. The election resulted in the Ideals winning eleven positions and the Ener- getics winning seven. Each winning candidate spent one day with his counterpart in the local and state political offices. For the graduates of 1965, it can become a reality . . . and not only in the obvious context of space exploration. ln a host of occupations and businesses, including farm equipment manufacturing, new goals are waiting to be won. And today's teenagers, armed with high school diplomas, are moving into a commanding position in the competition to win them. For many, the only limits to their success will be the limits of their own ambition. New Holland cheers on the young people who are now preparing to translate classroom knowledge into on-the-job productivity and hopes many will gird to go the whole way . . . to shoot the moon in their chosen fields.
