ti Z lll i ll i was the first year of a century filled with struggle, expansion and change. English rule was established in the new world, schools were founded and pioneers moved into the Mississippi Valley. Carrying farming supplies, ammunition and brave adventuresome people, the Conestoga Wagons pushed Westward into the frontier. Its origin in the Conestoga Valley of Pennsyl- vania gives the area a justifiable pride in its contribution to American development. Today's seniors do not have the romantic challenge of an uncivilized West, but the wheel tracks of the Conestoga Wagons have cut deeply into our American history. Our youth now finds its challenge in supporting and upholding the freedom of enterprise proposed by the first pioneers. Each span of years brings its own changes in the life of man. As the reader turns the pages of this yearbook of 1963, we hope to bring by an association of pictures and words a greater awareness of our proud American heritage.
