The most exciting campaigning done at Pequea is that done for the position of President of Sr. High Student Council. Several weeks before the actual voting each candidate through his campaign man- ager vies for attention. Posters, give- aways and other vote-getting techniques are in full swing. The climax comes with an assembly at which each candidate makes his campaign promises and the students leave the auditorium to vote. This years campaign managers were Ernie Stalder for Carl Slaymaker and Jac- queline Lacock for Georgia Mantell. FRONGROW1-rx J.Shel1ey C Rapp B pinke t R. King, L,H Lust ' ' ' ' r 011, J. Miller L. At the start of the sea- son many people had their doubts as to Pequea's chances for another championship. As the season progressed the team proved over and over that they were able to come from behind to Win. Winding up county league play by losing only one league game, the team entered the play- offs. The first game with Northeastern proved to be a thrilling 0-0 after overtime and Pequeawas awarded the victory on corner-kicks, 4-3. Bethel, the next opponent was defeat- ed 1-0, and Pequea gained the District Ill Championship. Much excitement prevailed in the inter-District game with Haverford as the score was deadlocked at 2- 2 after overtime. Pequea was again awarded a victory on corner-kicks and the Inter-District Championship. The clinching of this title wound-up a successful soccer season at Pequea. Honors did not end there either as Paul Secunda and Earl Lacock were placed on the County First All Star Team. Bert Hershey, Les Houck and Bill Zimmerman made the Se- cond All Star Team. The '62 basketball season proved to be somewhat of a letdown following a great soccer season. Lack of height and the lack of returning players greatly handicapped the teams ability to win. The Juniors, led by high scoring J erre Frankhouser, gained valuable experience which should aid next year's team.
