Class History Early in September, 1957, we got our first tastes of high school life. We elected Tom Speakman as President, and Richard Rohrer as Vice-President. Our Secretary was Beckie Walker, and our Treasurer, Chris Conybeare. Red and white carnations were selected for our class flowers, blue and white our class colors. We chose Give your best to the world, and it will give its best to you as the class motto. We sponsored a successful dance, The Little Pigeon Rock , after a basketball game. In the third annual Ninth Grade Night, which was the highlight of the year, we used Local History as our theme. As sophomores we elected the following officers: President - Betty jane Fisher, Vice-President - Richard Rohrer, Secretary - Beckie Walker, and Treas- urer - Lamar Denlinger. We immediately got busy deciding on our class jackets. We had them made in the school colors, red and white, but with black trim and Old English lettering. We sponsored a dance, The Sophomore Shuffle , after a basketball game, and held a skating party in April. At the end of the year we had a swimming party at Red Point. By the time we were juniors, we were really in the swing of things. First we elected the class officers. They were: President - john Houder, VicefPresi- dent - Tom Speakman, Secretary - Beckie Walker, and Treasurer - Harold Groff. Then we set our dues for the year, and chose a new style for our class rings with blue spinel stones. We held two dances, one after a basketball game, and one in the spring. We also held a bake and a swimming party in the early spring. Then came the most exciting project - the junior-Senior Prom. We were the first class to hold it away from school. juniors and Seniors danced in a Hawaiian atmosphere at the Overlook Country Club. And suddenly, it was here - our Senior year, at last! We elected as Presi- dent -- john Houder, Vice-President - Richard Rohrer, Secretary - Beckie Walker, and Treasurer - Harold Groff. We immediately got busy planning ways to increase our treasury. We sponsored three dances - one after a basketball game and two in the spring. On November 11, New York City was host to us, and the sights we saw there were most interesting and certainly unforgettable. On February 1, we introduced another first to Pequea Valley - a donkey basketball game. A Bake and Soup Sale was another one of our moneyfmaking projects. Late in May we visited Washington, D. C. Finally, on June 9, 1961, our dreams were fulfilled as we graduated, all going our separate Ways to give our best to the world. Beckie Walker, Secretary. 20
