Class History During our freshman year at Pequea Valley we were confronted with many important decisions. First of all we elected as President - Al Hershey, Vice- President - Chuck Ebersole, Secretary - Janice Keene, Treasurer - Ronnie C. Rice. The most important decision was that of choosing our class motto, class colors, and class flowers. We chose as our class motto - We are the Future, the Future is Ours , as our class colors - black and white, and as our class flowers - red and white roses. Our first chance to prove our capabilities came when We sponsored a successful dance after a basketball game. We were very proud when we participated in the second annual Ninth Grade Night . This was a plateau in our high school career. As sophomores we elected the following officers: President - Al Hershey, Vice-President - Doug High, Secretary - Pauline Secunda, Treasurer - Ronnie C. Rice. We were the first class of Pequea Valley to purchase school jackets in the sophomore year. We kept the tradition of using the school colors for our jackets. Once again we sponsored a dance after a basketball game, calling it the Sopho- more Shag . Our junior year fulfilled all of our anticipations. It proved to be a year of hard work and many new and exciting ideas. We first ordered our class rings, using a black onyx stone for its base. Then our hard work began. We sponsored a Bake and Soup Sale to earn extra money for the Prom, to be given in honor of the Seniors. In planning for the Prom, a new and exciting idea was developed. Why not have a Post Prom Party instead of the usual banquet? The idea was immediately accepted and definite plans were made. The local Mary-Ferree Society co-operated with us and sponsored the breakfast at the Dutch Town 81 Country Inn. We will always remember the fun we had decorating and the tedious task of making stars to carry out our theme Stardust , We were pleased and delighted with the results of our new idea I I Our hard-working officers of the year were President -- Al Hershey, Vice-President - Doug High, Secretary - Pauline Secunda, and Treasurer - Ronnie C. Rice. Finally the year of the greatest anticipation arrived. We were determined to make it a year that would never be forgotten. We elected as President -- Chuck Ebersole, Vice-President - Doug High, Secretary - Pauline Secunda, and Treasurer - Ronnie C. Rice. To increase our treasury we sponsored a Bake and Soup Sale and three dances. One of these dances was held in the fall in the school parking lot. The other two dances were held after basketball games in the gym. The trip to New York was unforgettable! Starting out at 4:30 A. M. on November 25, we visited many important and interesting places in New York. Other events still in preparation at this time include the annual trip to Washington, D. C., and the graduation exercises. Pauline Secunda, SECRETARY. 22
