851561925 l Olfl'I, Principal You, the members of the graduating class ol the Pequea Valley High School, have reached an important milestone in your lives. This is an important time for you. It is an equally important time for your schoolmates, parents and friends. The interest of the whole community is centered around you, and rightly so, because the schools represent the largest investment and business here in the valley. They symbolize an investment in boys and girls. To each one of you is given a character to build, a personality to fashion and a life to live. You will want to do your best to malce the most of these. Many energies, powers and talents are at your command. VX7hat will you do with these? l am sure all ol you will want to join that eager, joyous, expectant band of youth lmown as successful high school graduates. ln other words you will want to be a contributing citizen in our democracy. Since you have but one tile to live in a relatively short time, it becomes necessary to piclc out the worthwhile and essential things and cast aside the nonessential. You must malce a choice: you must choose. That may seem an easy thing for you to do while you are keyed up with excitement and with the sheltering influence of the home and school. But as time goes on the world will not prove to be the same as it seemed in the quiet surroundings of your high school life. Theories fail and life becomes harder to handle than you once thought. It is the hope of your school that you have been inspired to seelc your goal to the best of your ability. l hope you have been inspired to the extent that you recognize your talents and capabilities. Examine well the path your feet would trod. Consider what high attainments your mind is capable ol reaching. Your tools necessary to do this will include such items as hard worlc, friendship, love, understanding, and faith. Someone has so beautifully said: 'iLife is the mirror of icing and slave, 'Tis just what we are and soy Then give to the world the best you have, And the best will come hack to youf, Steadied by the experience of your parents and guided by their counsel and care, equipped with the training which your school has endowed you withg accepting the moral and spiritual values of lileg clothed in the faith and trust of youth, with all the enthusiasm and vigor that belongs to youth, may you go forth into the world and find all the happiness, success and the realization of all the dreams you have had during the years. May your hope be high. Have iaith in God, in yourself and in the future. Congratulations and best wishes to you. '-FYYPIVC . .!4I fA.Lll . Agheflnan
