The clock shows 10 minutes before the hour. Students begin to pack up their books and leave the classrooms while thoughts of evening activities fill their minds. For most Seaver students, the hours after dark provide an opportunity to relax, work off the day's stress and often work off calorics. While some students hit the books, others arc hitting the tennis courts. Fun and games with friends is often the best way to forget about the academic day to follow. For employed students, hours al ter dark provide on-the-job experience or just some extra spending money. Whatever the favorite activity. Seaver after hours offer a variety of good times. 20 Activities ntertainment By Krista Ames Entertainment is an important part of life -- some people like to entertain and others like to be entertained. Seaver College is no exception to either of these aspects of entertainment. During the 1987-1988 school year, students had opportunities to entertain in events such as the All-School Talent Show and monthly Coffeehouses and students were also entertained during weekly Thursday Night Movies and several off-campus dances. On Oct. 1, was the All-School Talent Show sonic of the performers were John Archer, a one-man juggling act consisting of flaming torches; a band of two Seaver students, performing an original song on synthesizers and a guitar; Louise Broncato, singing some country tunes; and Scott Noe. performing a stand-up comedy act. Debbie Brown, coordinator of the Talent Show, says. It’s a fun kind of show. You get to see the spirit of the students come out when they perform. The winner of the talent show. Scott Noe. was given a 15-nunute spot as the opening act to Mary Zeiglcr and Concert on Oct. 21 in Smother's Theatre. Coffeehouses arc another opportunity for students to entertain and be entertained. During the spring trimester some of the coffeehouses were an All-School Coffeehouse, with the proceeds going toward the American Diabetes Association; a Country Coffeehouse. presented by Louise Broncato Friends; and Tami Pick and Friends, a contemporary Christian band. Thursdays arc also known as Movie Night, sponsored by SGA. when students can watch the weekly movie at 8 p.m. or 11 p.m. Ticket prices were S2 per individual. SI per couple, or free with an SGA Gold Card. Some of this year's movies included; Scott Noe, treshman, hosted the Talent Show and entertained the audienco with his comedy routine.
