They simply wear what is Fomfortable. Most anti-preppys revolt pginst the uniformity of the preppys. . Designers' names seemed to appear on lust about everything this year. Designer s synonymous with Vogue and expen- ive. Calvin Klein proved to be the designer of the day. And simply styled Elothes in the earth tones rounded out the range of designer fashions. t has been commented that the youth of today seem to put much more emphasis on their clothes than those of the 60's and 70's. Whether this statement is true seems of little consequence to teenagers because to them appearances are a big part of high School life. Ger- ritt is dressed in today's new wave style, while his date,Missy Davis, sports the newest in designer dress. Together they make the couple of the future. Above: Missy joins Ken Snow and Kim Herman in a mid-day rendezvous. 12 Student Life Our fashion day at school brought a definite trend towards the new wave or punk styles. Although punk is not a com- mon occurrence at school during the week-it could be a prediction of fashions in the future at P.H.S. There are no strict guidelines in new wave dress-Anything Goes! Perhaps this is why it attracts so many free spirits. Western is another alternative dressing style available to the adventurous. The movie Urban Cowboy and the resurgence of Country-Western music has. helped to bring this style into popularity. Western can be seen everyday in the halls ranging from cowboy boots to flannel shirts and denim skirts. Preppy is the most prevalent style andl teenagers of 1982 can't help but to be preppy. Just about every shirt has an extra button or two around the neck. Alligators crept on to many shirts this season but plo-players made an attack to drive them off.
