Dr. Mark W. Bills Superintendent of Schools MEMBERS OF THE Board of Education, front row: Elizabeth Cleaver, Robert A. Ian-iieson, Presidentg Virginia Newell, back row: Epsey C. Williamson: Frederick M. Bourland, Iackson P. Newlin. Page 32 N Capable Administrators As Superintendent of Peoria Public Schools, Dr. Mark W. Bills strived continually to improve the school sys' tem and to raise the standards of the teaching staff. His past record and administrative experience made him de- pendable in this job. Twice a month the elected members of the Board of Education met to wrestle with the problems of educa- tional philosophy, personnel, salaries, budgets, and building programs. Under the leadership of their presi- dent, Mr. Robert lamieson, the Board deserved much credit for the improvements at Peoria High. As a result of their decisions, the students now boast of their own gymnasium, foyer, and the many other new facilities which added to the school pride felt by the faculty and students alike. Serving without pay, the members of the Board were elected by voters of the community. They played such an important part in the lives of the students and teach- ers that the Board of Education was considered a defi- nite asset to our community. ls L
