Miss Colby Taught English, Latin, and Rhetoric from 1873 to 1892, earned a Ph.D. degree in English Mr. Beasley Taught Science, History, Latin, and Greek from 1878 to 1889, became Principal in 1889 Early Faculty Members In the one hundred years of our existence, the excellence of our achievement in the fields of schol- arship and academic progress has rested on the qual- ity of the Peoria High faculty. That quality, which we know existed is difficult to feel by the mere list- ing of faculty names. However, through some valu- able old photographs of a few of the outstanding teachers of our early years, we are immediately able to sense that quality of scholastic greatness that has marked our history.
