Dr. See Superintend ent Schools, like families and individuals, have their times of joy and their times of sorrow. Schools experi- ence joy and satisfaction through the performance and achievement of their students. We have been particu- larly fortunate at Penta in being able to continue to provide additional facilities and equipment so that students have the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills. We have observed with satisfaction the dili- gence of many dedicated staff members as they work with young people in their development. Penta has not been without sorrows. Our hearts have been saddened by the loss of six of our young peoples' lives. The untimely deaths of these students l'C11ll11d us once more of the need which we have for one another and the responsibility that we bear to each other. We are proud of the record of students and their ac- tivities which this issue of the Artisan provides. It will be an important link to the past. Leonard Kingsley Director 10 We are now nearly through the second phase of facil- ity construction at Penta. Students of our Vocational High School will have 250,000 square feet of well- equipped buildings in which to learn when the Fall ternropens in September of 1972. The total space avail- able for much-needed modern vocational pursuits has doubled since the second phase began in 1969. All new construction and renovations completed since 1969 and all of the various equipment in the added areas have been paid for. Total funds for capital improvement completed since 1969 at the high school exceeds 34,500,000 As Superintendent of the 2,000 square mile Penta County Vocational Education Planning District, I re- spectfully acknowledge the financial assistance from the State Legislature, the State Administration, the State Department of Education, the Rehabilitation Service Commission, and the Federal Government which made the expansion possible. I commend the Local, Exempted Village, City, and County Superin- tendents and the member-school Boards of Education of this district for their excellent cooperation in planning for our successful expansion. It is 1ny sincere hope that we can continue to merit the confidence of professional educators, parents, and other citizens as we try to meet the educational requirements of the students who elect to attend high school at Penta. The Penta County Vocational Board of Education joins me in that hope. Jacob H. See Superintendent '11 .y. ,N 1 1 I , . z,.t.- ,. -. X ..
