Black Student Union The Black Student Union, formerly known as Triple G, was established in the fall of 1968 to promote goodwill and brotherhood among the stu- dent body. Any full-time student is eligible for membership. The organization co-sponsored the observance of National Black History Week, February 7-13 at PJ C. The theme for the observance was Black History Plus. Several members of the group wrote poems and essays for the occasion and a skit Was presented which took a dramatic excerpt from the broadway play, A Raisin in the Sun. During the fall term, Rev. Fred Shutitlesworth spoke to the group about his experiences in the early civil rights movement. Projects planned for the future include carry- ing 18 years olds to register to vote in the 1972 federal elections and support for the movement to make January 15 a national holiday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King J r.'s birthday.
