Construction Mirroring PJ C's continuing growth and change, the campus was, again this year, the scene of building construction and remodeling. Last year it was the new Social Studies Buildingg this year it is a multi-million dollar Visual Arts Build- ing and a remodeled Student Center. Throughout the year students and faculty watched the Visual Arts complex take form with its strange skylight-bedecked roofline. Scheduled to be completed in the summer, the new complex will house PJ C's Art department next year. During the Christmas holidays the Student Center saw extensive remodeling. Gone are the tile floors, the austere walls and the high ceiling- a decor often referred to in the past as Hjailhouse modern? ln their place is a thick carpet, wood- paneled walls and a lowered ceiling. Notwith- standing the criticism of a few that the Student Center with its rough plank walls and dividers now looks like Hoss Cartwright's mess hall-a bit rough hewn-most feel the remodeling effort to have been successful. Piercing the sky thricely, the Visual Arts Building roof is a campus conversation piece. The loneliness of a single Worker seems to contrast the architectural sophistication of the new Visual Arts Building. gl,-V

Plushly carpeted floors set amongst roughly tex- tured wooden walls in the remodeled Student Cen- ter seem incongruous to some.
