PIC Leaders and Scholars Honors Day is an annual spring term event at which a select group of PJ C students are recog- nized for their exemplary performance during the year in one of three areas: leadership, scholarship or community service. Leadership awards go to students who are very active in campus organizations, student gov- ernment, etc. Students having very high grade point averages are recognized for their scholar- ship. Community service awards go to students Who are highly involved in community affairs- community organizations, fund drives, etc. This year 12 students were honored. Debate and Forensics This year members of the Pensacola Junior College Debate and Forensic Team, under the able direction of their coach, Lee Shoeni, distinguished themselves and their school in intercollegiate de- bate and forensic circles throughout the southeast. Traveling to debate and forensic tournaments in Florida, North Carolina, Alabama and Mississ- ippi, the group brought numerous individual and team trophies back to PJ C including a Sweep- stakes Trophy Won in competition at Wingate Col- lege in North Carolina.
