v f X 122 TIDE F all Staff As is often the case with yearbook staffs, things were a bit slovv at first. Formulation of a master plan and organization of a staff always precede actual assemblage of a yearbook. There Were so many decisions to be made--decisions con- cerning the general theme, cover design, paper stock, type specifications and innumerable other things. And veteran staffers had to brush up on the rudiments of yearbook layout and design While at the same time novices had to learn the basics. By mid-September, though, the preliminary hurdles had been overcome and things began to move along. The staff accepted the challenge of producing the best TIDE ever and united in a common effort. TIDE Spring Staff The spring TIDE staff, consisting of both re- turning fall staffers and a few newcomers, was entrusted with the formidable task of carrying through to conclusion the very ambitious plan for the 1971 TIDE which had been formulated in the fall. TIDE '71 was to be larger and better than all previous editions. Accomplishing this goal proved to be no easy undertaking. Fall Term deadlines not having been completely met, the spring staff began work with an inherent handicap. Early spring deadlines came all too quickly and few were, met. But progress was steady and constant. The goal of producing a good yearbook was always uppermost in the minds of staffers and at no time was quality sacrificed for mere speed. In the end TIDE '71 was late in arriving-a summer book in yearbook parlance. But we feel the extra effort and the longer wait justified. We hope others will agree.
