S.C.L. Founded in the fall of 1969, the Students for Civil Liberties is a very active campus organiza- tion. During Fall Term this year S.C.L. co-sponsor- ed a rock festival at the University of West Flori- da. They also journeyed to Tampa to take part in the October 31 National Peace Coalition demon- stration. One of the group's Spring Term projects Was solicitation for the Angela Davis Defense Fund. Additionally, S.C.L. sold copies of Pensa- co1a's underground newspaper, Fish Cheer, as a fund-raising project during the Spring Term. S.G.A. The Student Government Association is the elective governing body of the student population at PJ C. As such, the S.G.A. represents the student population before the faculty, the administration and the community in all matters involving the general interest and Welfare of that population. S.G.A. is delegated executive powers in cer- tain areas such as the allocation of Student Activ- ity Funds. In most other areas Where the interest and Welfare of the student population are con- cerned-general institutional policies, codes of conduct, curriculum requirements, etc.-the S.G. A. Works with the administration in an advisory capacity. Elections are held twice a year to elect S.G.A. senators, there being one senator for every 100 full-time students. The offices of S.G.A. presi- dent, vice president and chief justice are filled during Spring Term elections. Members of S.G.A. committees and the traffic court are appointed by the S.G.A. president. Though sometimes accused of concerning it- self too much with trivia, the Student Govern- '-'At ment Association is a vital student activity at Miguel Orta PJC, SGA President Norman Cushon .
