Guidance offers seniors college info This year again under the able guidance of Mrs. Mirian Staley the counselors help many stu- dents to shape their varied fu- tures. Course planning, prepara- tory tests, vocational tests and college entrance tests are all services provided by the Guid- ance Department. This year a new counselor was added to the old staff. Miss Leah Ann Jack- son was chosen to replace Miss Anne McDonald. 24

Secretaries help PHS run smoothly The job of the secretaries and aids is to help keep Pensacola High running smoothly. In the main office transcripts are sent to colleges so that former stu- dents might be able to further their education. All types of forms have to be kept each day, and remain on file for further reference. Many telephone calls are answered and their messages relayed to the designated party. Phone traffic is sometimes quite heavy and messages quite often pile up. In all office matters the staff at PHS is totally competent and are always alert. I Mrs. Barbara Blakely answers the phone and relays the message to the right party. 2 Mrs. Peak helps check figures each day to make sure in each report 2 + 2 equals 4 3 Mrs. VanEtten strived diligently to keep Mr. Mabry’s tiring day running smoothly. 4 Lihrarv assistants and teachers aids enjoy discussing the day's high and low spots. 23

Library definite and needed study aid This year the PHS library meets many of the educational needs of each PHS student by supplying his teacher films, film- strips, books and numerous peri- odicals. The library, along with the capable staff members, is able to help further the educa- tional of all the PHS students, with the aid of the experienced Mrs. Bowles. l Mr. Brady sits and silently wonders about the ups and downs of juniors pains. 2 Mrs. Mirian Staley is often found with her hand on a phone and fier mind at work. 3 Mrs. rate on one of the many problems they face. 4 Students actually use their library prive- leges even though difficult to get. 5 Mrs. Simmons gives an unknown student directions on the location of books. 6 Mrs. Bowles strives diligently to keep the magazines and files in the correct order. 25
