PROPHECY Station S.O.H. now begins its commentary on the nomination, in this year 1975, for the first woman Secretary of Agriculture. Many outstanding women are present. First, we see Ruth Leiby, the model wife and mother of five red-haired children. Jean Sweeney is here also; she is the noted authority in raising animals in bedrooms. Then, too, is Miss Peggy Duncan, who has designed special window boxes to brighten the lives of Marines. Near her is the former Miss Jill Dunham—manager of a gym for retired botanists. And of course Sue King is here, the skilled breeder and handler of white rats. Miss Barry just arrived with her donkey from the North Pole where she is experimenting with pasturage. Miss Snapp is the maker of Hawaiian leis. With Ginger Snapp is Ellen Petty, the founder of the Lonely Hearts Club for Farmers. Next to them is Miss Sara Weidmen, famous for abilities as night watchman. Also, Miss Jo Davis is here; she, through her swimming for flowering water lilies has added greatly to horticultural knowledge. Oh, there is Molly Abel, the inventor of a toe cutter for cows which is so easy that a five year-old can work it, the monopolist on doctoring earthworms, Helen Fugate, Miss Virginia Emery, the famous discoverer of the new breakfast cereal, Beauty Flakes, made from apple seeds. And naturally, the owner of the colored egg-laying hens, Joan McCool, is here. Miss Jay Hemmer has just returned from touring her aboretums she is making. Next to Jay is Janna Bruins, who recently announced her engagement to a guinea pig farmer. On the platform is Miss Sue Hespenheide, who has made a valuable contribution to agriculture through breeding dandelions resistant to2-4D. We are happy to see Miss Randell, the librarian to the Secretary of Agriculture. Near her is Dr. Calwell, perfector of a method of placing pine needles back on the tree. There is also the famous horticulturist Ruth Swartley; at the present time, she is raising special daffodils with crooked stems. Then there is Miss Emmy Smith, world famous improver of relationships between chickens and people. Finally, there is Miss Barbara Reeser, who has just crossed a lilac with a rose to use in a border on her horse farm. From a distance, we hear Mary Koehler hogcalling. Who will win this office and who will go on to new lights in their field is up to you, the public.
