Ambler dear! Our hymn to thee we raise, In every place, God give His grace To beautify thy ways. 0 glorious for Autumn days When rich the harvest yields, For beauties of thy western skies, For winds that sweep thy fields! 0 Alma Mater! Ambler dear! God shed His light o’er thee And give increase without surcease And nobler let thee be! 0 dearly loved for April days For hours of toil and ease, For beauties of thy garden ways And music of thy bees! 0 Alma Mater! Ambler dear! We pledge our hearts to thee And trust God’s hand will let thee stand Firm through the changing years! Victorious for future days When over all the earth Thy daughters bear thy lessons far And nobly prove thy worth! 0 Alma Mater! Ambler dear! Work, and the sun your work will share, And the rain in its time will fall; For nature, she worketh everywhere, And the grace of God through all. With hand on the spade and heart in the sky, Dress the ground, and till it; Turn in the little seed, brown and dry, Turn out the golden millet. Work, and your house shall be duly fed; Work, and rest shall be won; I hold that a man had better be dead Than alive, when his work is done! Down and up, and up and down, On hilltop, low in the valley; Turn in the little seed, dry and brown, Turn out the rose and lily. Work with a plan, or without a plan, And your ends they shall be shaped true; Work and learn at first hand, like a man— The best way to know is to do! Down and up till life shall close, Ceasing not your praises; Turn in the wild white winter snows, Turn out the sweet spring daisies. Work, and the sun your work will share And rain in its time will fall; For Nature, she worketh everywhere; The grace of God through all. 10 Alice Cary Mary Abel “Mole” Ag Oradell, N. We will always remember Leah Miller, Pat Birge, and Patsy Lee who helped to enrich part of our college life. A TRIBUTE TO OUR PARENTS Our backgrounds of wise and loving guidance given by our parents have set for us certain ideals and standards for life. Because of our opportunity to go to college, we are better fit to enter the world ahead. We hope that we can fulfill your expectations and forward with courage and determination. 23 CLASS WILL We, the Senior Class of unsound mindsy unshapely bodies, and tea-party manners, do hereby will and depart with these few choice bits. Mole leaves her thoughtfulness and Irish blood to Judy Bel field. Pot leaves her desire for foreign lands to Esther Rose. Janna will gladly leave her talking diet and love for cats to Carol Reiss. Mary C. wills her car to Mrs. Fisher for all her trips. Jo gives her motherly advice and domestic ability to Bright Miller. Peggy leaves her smoke den to Mary Milton. Jill wills her bottle collection, megaphone (which she didn’t need), and pictures of Bob Francis to the staff. Jum leaves her good behavior? to Hubie French. Helen leaves her early morning travels to school to Joyce Miller. Jay leaves her candle collection plus candleabra for the next blackout. Heide leaves all her movie magazines to Sylvia Schneider. Mar leaves her diligent work and love for cows to Jeanie Carson. Rocky just leaves her doctor bills. Robbie leaves her Latin Lovers. Mac leaves her quiet subtle humor to Mrs. Day. Putt leaves her Lonely-Hearts Club membership to Mimsie Price. Randy leaves her unanswered questions to Mimsie Price. Bobbie leaves her immaculate habits to Betty Stiller. Emmy leaves her smelly Sea Breeze to Mardy Shackletoii. Ginger leaves her ability to collect silk pajamas from all her pen pals to Merky Coakley. Ruth leaves her rubbers to Kathy Fyffe. Sweeney wills and leaves her knack for picking up orphaned and strayed animals and her downstairs room to Mary Milton. Punk leaves her two tone hair to go with Sue Bentley’s future two tone car. The Senior Class wills Jenny lots of luck and wish we could have known her longer. We hereby end this last will and testament of the year nineteen hundred and fifty-five. Witnessed by: Judge Muggins Justice Sweeney Left to right, sitting—Judith Bel field, Mary Milton, Mimsie Price, Huberta French, and Bright Miller. Standing—Katherine Fyffe, Betty Stiller, and Joyce Miller. First row on stairs—Jean Carson, Esther Rose, Eugenia Hadjianastasiou, Mirkil Coakley, and Helena Day. Second row—Sylvia Schneider, Martha Shackleton, Carolyn Riess, and Susan Bentley. Class President: Huberta French Class Treasurer: Susan Bentley Class Secretary: Judith Belfield Class Representative: Jean Carson 26 PROPHECY Station S.O.H. now begins its commentary on the nomination, in this year 1975, for the first woman Secretary of Agriculture. Many outstanding women are present. First, we see Ruth Leiby, the model wife and mother of five red-haired children. Jean Sweeney is here also; she is the noted authority in raising animals in bedrooms. Then, too, is Miss Peggy Duncan, who has designed special window boxes to brighten the lives of Marines. Near her is the former Miss Jill Dunham—manager of a gym for retired botanists. And of course Sue King is here, the skilled breeder and handler of white rats. Miss Barry just arrived with her donkey from the North Pole where she is experimenting with pasturage. Miss Snapp is the maker of Hawaiian leis. With Ginger Snapp is Ellen Petty, the founder of the Lonely Hearts Club for Farmers. Next to them is Miss Sara Weidmen, famous for abilities as night watchman. Also, Miss Jo Davis is here; she, through her swimming for flowering water lilies has added greatly to horticultural knowledge. Oh, there is Molly Abel, the inventor of a toe cutter for cows which is so easy that a five year-old can work it, the monopolist on doctoring earthworms, Helen Fugate, Miss Virginia Emery, the famous discoverer of the new breakfast cereal, Beauty Flakes, made from apple seeds. And naturally, the owner of the colored egg-laying hens, Joan McCool, is here. Miss Jay Hemmer has just returned from touring her aboretums she is making. Next to Jay is Janna Bruins, who recently announced her engagement to a guinea pig farmer. On the platform is Miss Sue Hespenheide, who has made a valuable contribution to agriculture through breeding dandelions resistant to2-4D. We are happy to see Miss Randell, the librarian to the Secretary of Agriculture. Near her is Dr. Calwell, perfector of a method of placing pine needles back on the tree. There is also the famous horticulturist Ruth Swartley; at the present time, she is raising special daffodils with crooked stems. Then there is Miss Emmy Smith, world famous improver of relationships between chickens and people. Finally, there is Miss Barbara Reeser, who has just crossed a lilac with a rose to use in a border on her horse farm. From a distance, we hear Mary Koehler hogcalling. Who will win this office and who will go on to new lights in their field is up to you, the public. CALENDAR 1954 SEPTEMBER 17 Opening of School.
