the classic shlaifer look it seemed that he taught a thousand courses. every time we walked into a lecture room we met him. his intellectual prowess soon became legend- ary. yet, he was always humble, refined, and friend- ly. dr. shlaifer possessed that rare quality of being able to crystallize the most obscure and complex concepts in a manner that was understood by all. his dedication to teaching was always obvious. however, dr. shlaifer will best be remembered for his engaging idiosyncrasies and his incisive wit. who could forget those incomparable gesticulations? who will want to forget those horrendous drawings scribbled on the board? who will be able to surpress a chuckle when he recalls those wonderful quips and double talk? yes, dr. shlaifer has been a wonderful experience. our lives have been enriched by knowing him. the classic shlaifer drawing the classic shlaifer pose
