We were all anxious and hopeful because we knew that the years ahead would be Hllcd with many wonderful experiences. Our first project for the year was our Freshman Frolic. It was a huge success and we were all happy because so many upper-classmen came. The profits from this dance started our treasury on its way to paying for our senior trip. Will we ever forget our music teacher, Miss Webster? Even now the seniors talk about her. Trips to the office, books in the piano, pins out of the blackboard are things we will remember for a long time. Most of us even remember the words to Tovishka'7 and '4Walking at Night. In December our whole class went on a trip to the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. We were accompanied by Mr. Debias, our science teacher, Mr. Bachman, our algebra teacher, and Mr. Seidel, our civics teacher. We later found out that the teachers had deserted us and had gone to Bookbinders for lunch. Of course, we were having such a good time that we didn,t even miss them. We wanted to have another money-raising project so we sold Christmas corsages. We bought the materials from a company and put the corsages together ourselves. Quite a few people bought them and our treasury kept mounting. In March we had another dance which took place on Friday the thirteenth, and just to prove that we weren't superstitious we named it '4The Good Luck Dance. We had a fine turn-out and everyone had a good time. We closed our freshman year by having a successful roller-skating party. It was a fine climax to a wonderful year. ,f, LOG Our sophomore year brought us many more pleasant times. We had a talent review in the fall which was well-received by everyone. Languages were offered along with Mr. Eisenharfs geometry classes. Remember the great dissection projects in biology class? We 'sold Orange and Black team pennants for Sports Night and made a substantial profit on them. Our sophomore dance was held in April, and we called it uMoonlight Serenade? Wfe really were surprised at the outcome of that dance. We made a profit of twenty-five cents! The main projects of our junior year were the Junior Play, the Senior Breakfast, and our Junior Prom. We chose Harvey', as our Junior play, a successful affair which ran for two nights. Every- one enjoyed working on the various committees. The Senior Breakfast was quite an occasion for our Junior class, as we all remember. Our Junior Prom was named Coral Mist. We spent many long hours working on the dec- orations, and the results proved to be well worth the effort. Now we have almost completed our senior year. Our Senior play, Gramercy Ghost , fea- tured a new idea, the double east. This proved very popular, and we had an excellent turn-out both nights. Our Senior Ball, '6Winter WOHdCl'l8Hd,i, was the best dance we have ever had. The dec- orations were beautiful and everyone had a wonderful evening. The Washington trip was the outstanding event of our entire four years of high school. Now these things are all behind us. The only thing left is graduation, after which We will beuon our ownv. No matter how far away we go, or how many new people we meet, we will always remember our high school years, and all the friends we have made. i.- l Q,-Q Q if 'S e, QQ ,. i I x 5 is SX X N S' S x Q R Close Quarters The entire student body on the way to one of our pep rallies as the band plays on. The Senior High School Chorus includes among its two- hundred and sixty-three members those who enjoy singing. Students of grades ten, eleven, and twelve belong to this group. They sing for the December meeting of the Parent-Teachers, Association and for the Spring Concert. The repertoire of this group includes all types of choral music: folk songs, spirituals, show works, oratorio, large festival choral works, old English madrigals, carols, standard octavo selections, and songs in the modern vein. Band The Band, composed of over seventy students from grades eight through twelve, meets four times weekly under the direction of Mr. Don Smith. Aside from these rehearsals., each student receives an hour lesson each week on his particular instrument. The Band is kept busy throughout the year with a wide variety of engagements. Either the Marching or Concert Band performs at everything from football games and Sports Night to Graduation and the annual Band Concert. Majorettes Here are Pennsbury's high steppers whose twirling and strutting we have enjoyed at football and basketball games, assemblies. community parades, and Sports Night. These girls purchase and make their uniforms, boots, and hatons. This alone shows their interest in making this organization a success. Long hours are involved together with ' their eliorts to make their maneuvers as nearly perfect as possible. Pictured from left lo right are: N. Byzek lHead Maj.D, T. Thomas, J. Long, E. It is their job to iron out all problems for the benefit of each individual as well as the entire band. Another very important group of students make up the majorettes and color guard. They add a flavor of pomp and circumstance to any occasion while putting on a good show. Color Guards Pictured below are the hard-working colorguards. The junior varsity squad is composed of four sopho- mores. Each spring try-outs are held for the cheerleading squad for the next year. If a cheerleader has cheered for her junior year, she automatically becomes a cheer- leader for her senior year. Cheerleaders are chosen on the following points: precision, appearance, interest, and pep. The old and new cheerleading squads vote for the captain. Production First Row: A. While, J. The dance creates and uses purposeful movements to express the ideas. There are no set rules that determine movement in modern dance. The Modern Dance Club usually starts with warm-up activities such as 'tstrctchcsf' bounces, and 'cswingsn in standing positions or on 'the floor. The club's members learn, how to use their bodies so they can control them well. They learn to select and organize material to com- municate their own ideas through movement. The club performs at several school pro- grams throughout the school year such as the Christmas program for the community and school assemblies, and the Parent-Teen Frolic. Team members were taught techniques and skills by the coach, Mrs. Hoffman. Matches were played on a home-and- home basis with Pennsbury using the Yardley golf links as their home course. The team was composed of six mem- bers, hut when playing a team of only four men, Pennsbury was represented by the four players with the highest averages. S Mike Pinelli gives Ed Manley a few helpful hints on the finer points of golf. Tennis Although we have not yet entered a tennis team in interscholastic competi- tion many students enjoy playing on Pennsbury's fine tennis courts during intramural and physical education periods. By next year we hope to have a well organized team upholding the honor of the Pennsbury High School athletic program. L. to R.: R. Carlsen, J. Pisauro, M. Pinelli, E. Manley, L. Walker, J. During spring vacation, these girls work exceedingly hard to gain perfect teamwork. With the raw, early spring winds whipping around the practice field, the sun'-filled playing season looks indeed far off. April and May will pit the team against such stalwarts as Council Rock, Bristol, Morris- ville, Delhaas, and Neshaminy.
