The Pennsbury falcon flies on high! Finally, our symbol has reached maturity and is no longer nesting. True enough, it took three long years of numerous makeshift accommodations in churches, community halls, private homes, and ele- mentary buildings for it to feel its wings, but thanks to the citizens of the area, the Building Authority of the state of Pennsyl- vania, the untiring efforts of the School Board and our superintendent, Mr. Medill Bair, it is now soaring onward and upward. It is hard to realize, as we wander through a maze of shining hallways, over highly polished floors, and among satin- iinished blond furnishings set off by tinted venetian blinds and glass brick, that only since October I, 1951, has this luxurious setting been ours. We are grateful to all concerned in this undertaking for giving it to us. Buildings and equipment do not, of course, make a successful school. Inspira- tion, imagination, and industry must enter into the picture. As the years go on, may these qualities continue to characterize our system. May the Pennsbury falcon continue to Hy on high! S. lights up at night during a parent-teachers meeting. Hovering around us, but never doing our Hying for us, have been this year's faculty of approximately forty-five members and four practice teachers. Typical of teen-agers the country over, we at times resented their advice, the work deadlines they set up, the projects they requested, the discipline they accorded. We were particularly resentful of their means of punishment the afternoons tollowing Skip Day CFebruary 25D when about forty of us seniors were detained until 5:00 p. m. after school and deprived of participation in all activities. But compare them to any other faculty-and they are second to none. They especially en- deared themselves to us the night of the Faculty- Varsity Basketball Came despite, darn it, the fact they won. They endeared themselves to us as sponsors of dances, clubs, and plays. They en- deared themselves to us on the Vlfashington trip. Yes, we must admit we have caused them to lose many feathers, but, bless their hearts, their confi- dence in our gaining our wings never wavered. 4 . 13? if X' Student Council President Kay Balser and School Board President Forrest Iobes smooth the mortar at the Cornerstone Laying Cere- monies, January 9, 1952. l I ,ff- e--'-' f--i ?-- fi- .f-11, ,---- ' ,,...-- 31-o ,Z , i g -Y V - - -----?- Y -A LW --.4 A, -. , -f-4- - K nf git' W5 -f-f ---gl, !A W R , V, ,,,. Mr. Forrest lobes, though tremendously busy as the vice-president of a large firm, always has time to preside over school board meetings until the wee hours of the mornin so that Pennsbury students will have the best edu- cation possible. Will you ever forget the time 'Medieval' balled us out? He was always so jolly. I never thought he could get angry. Nope, and I'll never forget those lectures from 'Father' Every day we could count on hearing how to study, how to read, how to carry out group process. But you know, now that I look back, he was one of the best teachers we ever had. Such are the reminiscences we'll indulge in live, ten, fifteen years from now. It is then that we'll realize how much counsel, guidance, and help our elders gave us. In the Bible there is a verse in Proverbs that reads: Where there is no vision, the people perish. There must be a school board, an administration, a parent- teachers organization, a faculty with ideas, with modern techniques at their command, with insight into the nature of teen-agers and their problems if a school is to progress. Right now, Pennsbury can be proud of its leaders. If they all continue to remain in the system and if other as alert are added, there is no question that Pennsbury must soar ahead. Mr. William Ingraham, beneath a cheery smile and a jaunty air, carries the burden of school financing, school maintenance, and student transportation. Mr. Richard L. Currier, principal, is pictured here breaking into that well-known sincere, warm, confidence-engendering smile. His door is always open to faculty and students alike. we af? gfa fefuf MARY I. Each year all students in grades 10, 11, and 12 who have maintained an average of 85 in scholastic achievement become eligible. Candidates are further screened by the faculty on the bases of leadership, service, and character. Candy sales are booming! Helping the senior class raise money for their annual trip to VVashington are Chris Bennett, Lyn Van Alien, Bill Anderson, Carol Smiley, Mary Lou Mason, and Mr. Ingraham. Learning about our community, building a mythical community, going through the motions of group process in biology, learning in physics how to study, having apparatus exercises in gym, and reading four books each report period-buying lunch in the new cafeteria, going to canteen, seeing Pennsbury defeat Morrisville in basketball, performing in a big play, attending our first big dance, baking our first cake in Chef Club, being elected to National Honor Society- crowding onto buses, yelling excitedly at noontime, working after school in the darkroom, rattling over the roads in our first jalopy, filling lockers with pin-ups, idolizing that man teacher, looking starry- eyed into the eyes of our first love! These are the guide-lights in the lives of us Pennsbury falcons as we glide through the air from grade seven to grade twelve. Our only regret is that the day is not long enough to crowd into it all we would like to swoop into. P for Pennsbury! So spells out the Band at the Morrisville football game. .,. , ,, v V ..
