T His YEAR the student cstmcu was able to get off to a flying start because elections had been held at the end of the 1949 school year. Those elected to lead the Council were Robert Williams, President: Elwood Fritz, Vice-Presi- dent: Lucy Ragolia, Secretary, and Samuel Di- Natale, Treasurer. At the beginning of this school year nine homeroom representatives w e r e chosen and the Council convened with its ad- visor, Miss Mary Dwyer, early in September. The Council sponsored the first dance of the year on Friday, September 18, and then took up the direction ot the Saturday Night Canteen that was organized last year. ln the meantime, such activities as the Curtis Magazine Campaign and the sale of book covers helped to raise some necessary money. ln addition, to retain a record of various activities in picture form, the Council purchased for the Penn-Foto Club a professional flash camera. These tasks completed, plans were then made for an Alma Mater contest, provision of noon- hour activities, and lengthening of the lunch period.
