Athletic Club Harvest Dance Committee Cheerleaders Top: The Athletic Club members practice shootinq . Middle: The Iunior Harvest Dance decoration committee prepare the cornucopias. Below: Cheerleaders A. Szolack, L. Argenti, and B. Misawic rouse Pennsbury's pep. XTRA-CURRICULAR activities were in full swing here at Pennsbury. They took up the club period time, which was the last period in the day, the time imme- diately after school, and sometimes evenings. ' The majority of clubs accepted from twenty-five to thirty members: so it was not always possible to get into a club of one's first choice. But for variety, there was no question. Some of the clubs, the names of which suggest the nature of their programs, were as follows: Gift, Commercial, Debate, Yearbook, Newspaper, Pho- tography, Science, Drama, Boys' and Girls' Athletic, Projectionist, Driver Training, Stagecraft, Library, Auto Mechanics, Art, Cheerleading, Model Aircraft, Plastic Arts, Boys' and Girls' Chorus, and Band. In addition, a vast interscholastic sports program was carried on. There were hockey, football, basketball, softball, baseball, and swimming teams. Most of these squads could use the facilities at the Makefield Ele- mentary School fmade necessary because neither the Fallsington nor Yardley buildings have gymnasiumsl, but some groups had to go elsewhere. The boys' bas- ketball teams had to travel to Parker School in Trenton for practices and for games, while the girls' swimming teams had to go to the Trenton Y.W.C.A. Mention must also be made of the plays and dances. Both the seniors and juniors each presented a drama. Unfortunately the yearbook deadline was too soon for us to catch the junior production. All the classes as well as the Parent-Teacher Association presented many dances throughout the months. There was the Senior Ball, the junior Prom, the Sophomore Christmas Ball, the Iunior Harvest Hop, the Sophomore Hop, the Fresh- man Hobo Dance, and the Saturday Night Canteen Dances. ln the vein of SURREALISM, the activities of the school are herewith repre- sented. Using the mask of tragedy, a baseball, a music note, a broken pencil, and a limp palette, the artist has placed these objects in a dream- like fantasy. 'the placing of the mask on a polished column illustrates the difficulties of reaching heights in drama. The limp palette shows the flexi- bility in the different media that art utilizes. The reader will also note an eye and a key. The first of these stands for an elert eye of a student, eager to partake of all school experiences: the latter of these, for the key to future opportunities. Note the intense avidity with which the busy ants are clamoring for a chance to touch the key. Completing the symbolism is the face of a limp watch to illustrate that time is flexible, according to how students make use of their talents.
