Fabiene Hunter one hundred and ninety-eight CAMDEN COUNTY JUNIOR MISS Early last November, the Student Council members were asked to select five senior girls as nominees for Pennsauken High School's Junior Miss. Little did they realize that one of their choices would eventually go on to the New Jersey Junior Miss competition. The first step was a talent contest before PHS fac- ulty members. After careful consideration, Fabiene Hunter was chosen to represent Pennsauken High School in the Camden County Junior Miss competition, Participating in this pageant, sponsored annually by the Collingswood-Haddon Township Jaycees, were fifteen girls from high schools throughout Camden County. On the evening of November 25, 1967, the contest- ants were judged in the categories of scholarship, poise, and talent. Fabiene's assets won the approval of the judges. who selected her as Camden County Junior Miss. Her vibrant personality was also recognized by her fellow contestants, who chose her as Most Con- genial. Now on to the State Competition! Monday, January 15, 1968, began a week of competition, education, and fun for the eighteen county representatives who were guests of the city of Elizabeth. The girls were taken into the homes of the local Jaycees and J aycettes. They were kept on the go from morning 'til night with tours, conferences, and more tours. The girls hardly had time to rest. Finally Friday night arrived. The first night of com- petition eliminated ten of the girls, leaving Fabiene and seven others. The second night of the pageant was a repeat performance of talent and appearance entries. Fabiene sang her way into the hearts of both the talent judges and her fellow contestants. She was awarded the New Jersey Junior Miss Pageant Spirit Award, and New Jersey Junior Miss Pageant Best Tal- ent Award. Though Fabiene was not chosen to represent the state of New Jersey, she has had a wonderful experi- ence which she will never forget. She has formed many friendships which mean almost as much to her as her part in the Pageant itself.
