'Week The Baccalaureate Service was presented to eighty-eight members of the graduating class, their rela- tives and guests, on Sunday evening, May 24, 1959. The sermon, entitled What Is Your Authority? Who Gave It?, was delivered by Reverend Andrew H. Beahm. Other area ministers who participated were the Reverends Mr. Alan Seaman, Mr. William Walker, Mr. Elwood Williams, Mr. Charles Stevens, Mr. Dean Rupe. The high school chorus sang the anthem, How Lovely Is Thy Dwelling Place. Via jet, the class of 1959 took a trip around the world in eighty minutes. The trip was based on the theme, Around the World in Eighty Days. Lacking a wit, two half-wits CCurt Bierly and jim Bohnj conducted the tour from country to country. They were excellent guides. We started our trip in Holly- wood. From there we went to New York, Paris, with its street Cafes, and beautiful gowns, colorful Spain, wrestling in japan, and the dances and classrooms of Germany, all thrilled us as we toured. The last stop on our trip brought us to Hawaii. After we enjoyed one of their native dances, we all joined in singing Aloha. The trip had many high spots, but probably none will be remembered as long as the final stop-Penns Valley, our home. We all joined in singing to our great love, our Alma Mater. The seventh annual Commencement was held in the auditorium on May twenty-ninth. The welcome address was given by Lee Wolfe, Senior Class President. Area ministers participating in this service were Reverend Fred H. Irwin and Reverend Paul E. Miller. A piano duet, Andulucia, was played by Sandra Vonada and Ray Zeigler. A vocal duet, I'll Walk with God, was presented by Mary Spayd and Orvil Hosterman. The speaker of the evening was Dr. Roy Buck, of the Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Buck's subject was Day of Judgement. The graduating class was presented to the president of the area school board, john G. Meyer, by the high school principal, john E. McCoy. Mr. Meyer presented the individual members to the presi- dents of the local boards, who then awarded the diplomas to the class members. Q fr' fast, H31 .Ilia ic ' 11 H2:a'E.'Q?l'ti'?s '! lg ' .c
