McHUGH, Principal In the days of international uncertainty in which we are living, there is a reluctance on the part of the mature to urge the youth of the world to go forth and strive for personal and national and international success, only to have such effort terminated by strife among countries. Leaders everywhere constantly warn young people of the destructive power of nuclear weapons and at the same time neglect to challenge them with the problem of the control of the newly attained knowledge. Our ancestors pushed back the frontiers of this nation with courage and with the will to succeed. These same qualities must characterize the efforts of the Class of 1957 in facing an equally arduous task-the exploration and control of the hereto- fore incomprehensible power of the atom. This is your challenge-go forth with a determination to surmount all obstacles to the beneficial use of this force for the welfare of all mankind. In all your worthy endeavors may success be yours.
