Rudy Baric showed his amazing coaching ability by turning our varsity into a superior team. The other co-captain, Rudie Holmes, a four-letter athlete, won the attention of the spectators by his skillful maneuvers on the court. He showed his all-around ability by contributing 220 points to the team's point total. Rex Davis, another Senior, was second top scorer on the team with 253 points to his credit in regular and tournament play. Ron Brady displayed extraordinary talents as a guard, keeping pace at all times with the opposition. At the same time, he ended the season with l l8 points. Along with Brady, George Bragg, an outstanding Junior on the Big Five, contributed much to the Red Devils' victories, including his 205 points for the season. Winning Tri-County for the fifth consecutive year, the l955-56 Basketball Team again showed its magnificent form under the capable coaching of Mr. Baric. In Group lll competition for the first time, the team stayed at the top of its league with a total of eighteen wins and only one loss. The Red Devils wound up the regular season with 1330 points to clinch second place in total points in South Jersey. With its dynamic playing ability, our team fought its way into South Jersey Semi-Finals by defeating Lower Regional in the first Tournament game. Again showing their cleverness on the basketball court, they over- powered Haddonfield to qualify for the South Jersey Group lll Finals. With a one-point victory over a hard- fighting Woodrow Wilson team, Re Hi won its first South Jersey Group Ill Championship. Adorned with these laurels, the Baricmen entered the State Semi- Finals against Princeton High School. The high-stepping varsity overwhelmed the Central Jersey Champs and found themselves in the State Finals for the first time in Re Hi's history. Even though they lost to the North Jersey champion team of Cranford in the Finals, our team won the notice, respect, and admiration of sports fans throughout the state.
