Also beginning music and art are sug- gested to be of general value to the students in all curricula. Aside from studying. sports are very important in our school. We have a well balanced sports schedule for both boys and girls. The boys have football, basketball, baseball. and track while the girls enjoy hockey. basketball, softball, and tennis. Since all our teams have above average coaches, it stands to reason that they come home with more championships than average. Another important area in our school is extracurricular activities. These would include citizenship activities. such as Student Council: subject activities, such as Science Club: cultural activities. such as HRed and Whitei' and Choirg and many others. such as the Regionnaires. Red Cross. and the Honor Society. THUNIXN ROBINSON, ILS., fNI.Ed. DAISY INHCARTNEY. IIS., Ed.NI SAMUEL IJLFNIXK BN 'NIA Typing Shorthand Shorthand. Typing. Bookkeeping Typing. It was a wonderful feeling. It wasn't long before our class rings came, and with the help of our sponsor, Miss Katherine Gaventa, we received them. Then we plunged into our class elections. This year our officers were George Westcott, Presi- dent, Sue Dale, Vice President, Mary Ann Whit- aker, Secretary, and ,lay Hodges, Treasurer. When Christmas rolled around, we presented our class play, The Treef, It was just a matter of a few months before we were engrossed in our Prom, 'IAn Evening in Paris. Now we were tops in high school society . . . we were Seniors. OUR SENIOR YEAR . . . 1954-1955 At last! We had reached the peak of our high school careers, we were seniors. First we ordered our class pictures with the guidance of our sponsor, Mrs. Davidson. The officers who would lead us in this, our final year, were George Westcott. President, Daniel Bergbauer, Vice President, Ber- tha Olsen, Secretary, and ,lay Hodges, Treasurer. The annual Senior Dance was followed by the ordering of our name cards. Finally, there came the event for which we had planned and waited for four long years . . . the Class Trip. It was a wonderful trip, one which we shall never forget. Then we were on the stage . . . graduating. It had happened so suddenly that before we knew it, we were alumni. It was over in a moment, but we shall remember it all our lives. gs 2.,j ':,'ff, .'. . Red and Whit VOL. XXIV, No, 6 REGIONAL HIGH 1 .1 ROBERTA FKLLERTON JOYCE BOIFVIER RED AND WHITE HISTORY The Red and White, Re- gional High School's news- paper, is actually the older of the school's two publica- tions, tracing its history back approximately thirty- five years. During part of this time the Red .and White was a combination of lit- erary magazine, newspaper and yearbook, serving ad- mirably a student body much smaller than the pres- ent one. With the establishment of the Retrospect in 1947 as Regional High School's yearbook, the Red and White began its career as a newspaper exclusively, as- suming printed or mimeo- graphed form, as the state of its finances dictated. Af- ter recovering from a severe case of empty treasuritisw la disease little known to Western science but surpris- ingly common among stu- dent publicationsj the paper SCHOOL, PENNS GRSVE. returned to printed form two years ago and has pro- gressed to such an extent that its size was enlarged this year. The 1955 Red and White staff is headed by Joyce Bouvier as Editor-in-Chief and Bobbe Fullerton as Managing Editor. These two senior editors read copy, write headlines, proofread. plan layouts and supervise the paper generally. In ad- dition to this work, Manag- ing Editor Fullerton has been chief salesman for the advertising staff which has contributed almost six hun- dred dollars to the paper's income. Two faculty members as- sist the students in the task of publishing the student newspaper. Miss Margaret Conner acts as literary advi- sor, while Miss Daisy Mc- Cartney, supervises the staff's financial activities.
