Singleton, P. Erhardt. Lowell Society The thirty-fourth year of the Lowell Society began with the election of officers, Fred Davis being e- lected president- David Singleton, vice-president- and Craig Jurgensen, secretary-treasurer. Guided by Mr.Cragin, advisor, these boys were able to perpetuate the traditionally fine work of the Society. The Society's purpose: The creation of an active interest inthe literary field together with a more inclusive acquaintance with the great literature of the world. This year's Society started off its activities with two evening sojourns to McCarter Theatre in Prince- ton. There the Socletyw members delighted in see- ing two excellent plays acted out by the Intime group. Intermittent trips were also taken to Trenton go attend the showings of various movies of literary signifigance. Regular Wednesday night meetings were held for the purpose of studying one of Shake- speare's immortal plays: Henry IV Part I. Plans are now underway to see a Broadway play on the annual New York Hip. ln the future looms the a-nnaul Agassiz- Lowell basketball game in which Lowell hopes to repeat its victory of last year. The Lowell Society members believe that this was a truly successful year in accordance with their traditionally high standards. x I r f . e . : ,:Ar 'si.'V' ' . ' aff' F' A f , --, 9 5 xg .. .
