TT 5.1 L to R C Jurgensen Cnag Jurgensen Mr Cragin B Rowley Nohonol Honor Society 1 D6 Trl Steps Chapter of the National Honor Socrety of Secondary Schools here at Pennington has been dedicated to a four fold purpose the creatron of enthusiasm for scholarship the stimulation of a destre to render service the promotion of worthy leadership and the development of character in the student body Students who attatn these laudatory objectives are candidates for membership subject to an electron by the Faculty Councll and approval of actrve Society members This year Mr Cragln has again given hrs vlrgorous and active support as faculty advisor Last year s members Chuck and Craig Iurgensen and Bert Row ley decided not to elect offrcers but to work to gether as a unit The present program inaugurated by these members is to be expanded to encompass plans for the betterment of the entrre school when new members are added in February It LS fervently hoped that the Honor Society will continue rs good work ln the years that Ile ahead ' 9- Mr Cragrn adv 68 V . - I I V. Markle Student Council The Student Counctl of The Pennington School was counseled by Dr Lorenz and guxded forward by tts zealous officers Rlchard Sartor president Chuck Iurgensen vice presrdent and Russell Clark sec retary who strove to Lmprove It while taking care of the actual wants of the school For the councrl itself a new system of representation was adopted Th1s year s members were e lected from the halls thereby offertng a wrder range of personalrtres who were more fam1l1ar wrth and interested rn dorm1tory rmprovements as well as the school proper Whrle mtemal improvements were being advan ced this body managed to undertake a great deal of bustness A comm1ttee was appotnted to supervrse the recreation room after school and dmner A clean up task force was launched into operation spreading their campargn by speeches and posters whlch polnted out the proper places to dispose of htter Several dances were scheduled throughout that port1on of the year remarnmg after the com pletion of the gym The Student Council year 1956-1957 can safely by called an experimental year, since many new ideas were adopted.
