Mr. Blanchard Progressive is the word we like to use to describe the achievements of Mr. Blanchard, our principal for three and one- half years. Under his leadership, Pennell Institute has gone steadily forward in educational standards. He organized the Student Coun- cil, the National Honor Society and initiated a testing and guid- ance program. Recently Pennell was elected to membership in the New England Association of College and Secondary Schools. It is with regret that we bid him farewell. He will attend the University of Maine this spring semester where he will receive a master's degree in June. Following that he expects to study at Harvard for his doctorate. The best wishes of the student body and the faculty go with him and his family. 4

Mr. Brown To the Seniors: My sincere wish to you is that you have accomplished the goals that you have set up for yourselves while in high school. lt is generally accepted that one gets out of life as much as they are willing to put into it. This, of course, is up to the individual. We, in America, have been criticized quite severely during the last few years because Russia was surpassing us in education. Many people were upset and as a result, our science and mathematic classes have been given much thought and, no doubt, have im- proved. lt is my belief that we are doing a fine job in teaching ALL youth in our schools. However, l would like to point out that you young people must perhaps learn to do better in leaming to think for yourselves. It isn't safe or desirable to be misled by those who are willing to think for you. We all enjoy much freedom in this wonderful country of ours. It is up to you young people to pre- serve our way of life. 5
