In 1950, for the second year, P,Y.A, had a Junior Varsity football team. The main reason for the team is to prepare freshmen and sophomores for future varsity competition. The J.V.'s coached by Mr,Sam Jones, had their own 4 game schedule. The first game was a home game against the Waterloo J.V.'s. The game, closely fought, ended in a scoreless tie.Next, the team traveled to Geneva and lost to the Geneva High .T.V.'s 13-O. The .T.V.'s went to Waterloo for a return game and came home on the short end of a 31-O score. The season ended with a 31-O rout over the Canandaigua J.V.'s on the Liberty Street field. On the last week of the season, an intrasquad game was held with Mr. Jones' team beating Mr. Kopp's team 7-0. The success of this year's team won't be known until next year when many of the boys move up the arsity. sashetlm I F5 4 xof 1 'I 1 W1 z I p 2 Back Row: Mr. Pond, Coach, C. Guthrie, J. Garren, F. The 1950-51 Basketball Team, under Penn DeSales Coach Pond, started the season with avery Penn Watkins Glen green varsity squad. The season was poor Penn Geneva until the last half of the year. After many Penn Lyons hard drills and heart-breaking defeats, the Penn Canandaigua team began to click. At the closing part of Penn Newark the season, the team beat Waterloo and Penn Watkins Glen Seneca Falls and became the Finger Lakes Penn Waterloo Class AChampions. On March Z, the Class Penn Seneca Falls A champs played Avon at Canandaigua, Penn Lyons winning before a large crowd with a score Penn Geneva of 42-37. The next Saturday, luck went bad Penn Carlafldaiglla and at Rochester Painted Post spoiled the Penn Newark P.Y.A.'s chance to play in the Sectional Penn 13653185 Finals. :X Penn Waterloo W Penn Seneca Falls X , C ' X Penn 42 Avon A e Y? 1 Penn 32.
