For those who may not have noticed it, the Penn Broadcaster editors and reporters are busy finishing and proof-reading their assignments. The news is assembled, typed, run off, and quickly supplies the students with the latest news. The staff this year played Santa Claus to the children in the Mars home by collecting toys and clothing for them. For the May issue the seniors chose their junior assistants to take over the job of publishing the newspaper. As the cast took their places everyone realized that the big night finally arrived. The play took place in the Cutler home, the scene of many typical teen-age problems. Jane Cutler fMarty Wiblej is a vivacious girl with a frank, expressive manner whose main problem is a date for the all important J S Dance. Sally, her best friend Cjean Callahanj, is a sweet likable girl. She spends her time worry- - 40 ing about Jim, CRonnie Hageterj a good- looking boy, who is rather fond of himself. George, CHarry Albertj, is a good-looking boy. Although he has a polish which the girls admire, he, however, is a bit on the dumb side. George's father, Mr. Ahern, QPaul Ham- merj is in constant competition. with Mr. Cut- ler over their peonies. jane's father, Andrew, Qjim Nelsonj is no doubt an understanding father but he is sometimes driven to distrac- tion by Jane and her friends. His wife, Nettie, QCarole Cashdollarj is, however, used to An,- drew's rampages and knows how to handle him. Their maid, Agnes, fjane McCaffertyj is a loyal friend to anyone in distress. The normal routine is broken by the ar- rival of Sally's cousin, Marcia, CCarolyn Mc- Culloughj a triple-threat from New York, who will stop at nothing to get a man. Elroy, a general nuisance, QTom McNeil- liej who puts the shot, is constantly being chased by Marilyn CKathryn Weckerlyj, a sweet young girl. He is also the object of affection of Rose Tilton QDorothy Marshj, of whose presence he is quite unaware. Mrs. Tilton, QDonna Hamiltonj is not to be out- done and the actions of Rose are often under her watchful eye. Her youngest daughter, Josie fRoberta Chambersj is truly a brat, not only in name. The arrival of Jane's country cousin, Cindy Collins, QKathy Gillonj puts the action into high gear. With her movie plot ideas, Cindy seeks to make the course of true love run smoothly. Her actions cause an uproar of events which, however, straightened theme- selves out in very good order. One of Cindy's bright ideas is the invitation of Bob, CArt Minorj an Air Force Lt. He arrives in Marine Blues but is more interested in Agnes' cook- ing than in goin.g to the dance. l4l,.. The junior Varsity started off their season with a real bang this year. Throughout the season we played seventeen games. The ten games we won still send a thrill through us. To realize we were frightened before those games would be putting it mild- ly. Those few words from the coach, Let's go boys, and we would straighten up and look at our teammates. The hope and determination in. their faces told us to do our best and quit worrying about the outcome of the game, Our goal is the varsity team. What better could there be! We realize this is to be accomplished only through practice and hard work. You have all met our coach, Keith White, who gives generously of his time and effort that we might learn and better the techniques of basketball. Throughout the season we have had Ruth Pflugh, Donna Hamilton, and Marty Wible starting as forwards and Ruth Murray, Mary Grace Malloy, and Ruth Simpson starting as guards.
