.Lion’s Guard. Lion's Guard is an all-university drill company which sponsors both a men’s and a women’s drill team. Well known along the Last Coast for their precision moves, the basic drill team and the trick drill team of Penn State both perform a variety of difficult routines using quality Springfield rifles. The purpose of the Lion’s Guard is to maintain a highly efficient drill company while fostering a spirit of friendship and cooperation among the members. Larch Student Society The Landscape Architecture Stu- dent Society sponsored two fund- raisers during the fall—an outdoor plant sale and a pumpkin and cider sale on the Mall, and also organ- ized a spring banquet honoring all graduating landscape architecture students. The society, with 117 members, sponsors lectures during the year, sends a group of Larch students to a national convention, and provides a co-op service that sells drafting materials and prints to society members at a discount. The students of social welfare arc instrumental in dis- tributing public welfare in- formation to the commu- nity. The club co-sponsored a toy fund drive to benefit mentally retarded children.
